Polycarbonate Signal Aspects
The Signal Aspects are made of Mild Steel (MS), Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) or Polycarbonate material.
- The MS aspects have become obsolete as they are prone to rusting and require periodic painting.
- FRP aspects are hand moulded and differ slightly in dimensions. These are prone to breakage and have iron reinforcements that corrode fast.
- The Polycarbonate aspects are now used worldwide due to their better quality, maintenance free service, durability and effectiveness. The average life of polycarbonate aspects is 15 - 20 years as against about 5 years in respect of other materials.
CMS was the pioneer in introducing this technology for Traffic Signals in India.
